Kubu Island Camp
Kubu Island Camp is located on Kubu Island in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans area of Botswana. It is a remote campsite offering a unique and authentic nature experience. The 14 spacious pitches are scattered between impressive Baobab trees and large granite rocks. The island is renowned for its stunning views of the salt pans and its rich cultural significance. The name "Kubu" means "hippo" in Setswana, recalling the time when hippos lived here. Facilities include simple long-drop toilets and fire pits, but no showers or running water. Guests must be fully self-sufficient, bringing their own water and equipment. On-site activities include guided walks, bird watching, stargazing, and visits to historical sites. The campsite is open year-round; however, access roads may be impassable during the rainy season.
