Petrified Forest
The petrified forest in Namibia consists of tree trunks that are between 240 and 300 million years old. The largest trunks are approximately 30 meters long and have a circumference of up to 6 meters. Some of the petrified tree trunks still exhibit annual rings. These trunks were likely transported to this location by a massive flood from Angola and later petrified due to sediment and silicic acid. Although they were buried underground for millennia, erosion eventually brought them back to the surface.
