Sesfontein
Sesfontein, meaning "six wells", is home to six natural springs that form a lush oasis rising from a barren landscape. Sesfontein is located in the Hoanib Valley and is surrounded by mountains. It is a lovely small town with acacia and mopane trees, speckled with fan-shaped palms. The town provides an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding Kaokoland. An old fort, built at the end of the 19th century, has been renovated and converted into a comfortable, atmospheric lodge. It is an ideal quick stop for exploring the southern foothills of Kaokoland. Do not miss a trip to a local Himba village to learn about local customs and traditions, and to see how these communities live in peaceful coexistence with wildlife and the natural environment.
