Swakopmund
The coastal town of Swakopmund, located on the spectacular coast of Namibia, is known for its sprawling tree-lined, colonial architecture and is surrounded by barren desert terrain. Swakopmund was founded in 1892 as the main port for German Southwest Africa, and German influence is still felt everywhere. Swakopmund, now almost known as a seaside resort, is the capital of the Namibian coastal tourism area and offers visitors lots of fun and a variety of activities. Here truly is a bizarre mixture of German and Namibian influences, adventure possibilities, relaxed atmosphere, and a cool sea breeze, which makes it a popular destination in Namibia. Visitors can look forward to a range of exciting activities: quad biking, boat tours, horseback riding, fishing, sightseeing and fascinating desert tours.
